Welcome to The Health Equity Pharmacist Blog!

Hello! I'm Rachel, a pharmacist with a public health background. I'd like to share a little about what I do. My current job involves working in areas I quite enjoy, such that it's mostly fun and sometimes work. My full time position involves working with a collaborative inter-professional team in our Heart Failure clinic, training the next generation of pharmacists as a residency program director and preceptor for pharmacy residents and pharmacy students, Research & Development Chair, Ethics Consultant, Medication Safety, Researcher and continuous quality improvement projects with a focus on improving the quality of care with an Equity lens.

My Blog is about Health Equity and related topics such as Health Disparities, Social Determinants of Health (SDoH) and Diversity & Inclusion. Why all of those? Well, they're all interconnected topics.

So little about Pubic Health and its related topics were taught during my undergraduate and graduate studies. My passion for this field was sparked while working on my Master of Public Health (MPH) degree at Wright State University - Boonshoft School of Medicine. Learning about SDoH and their effects on healthcare and health outcomes made me realize that improvements were needed in my clinical and teaching practice.

Have you considered how rich was your education and clinical training in Public Health related topics or Health Equity? We are now at the crossroads on Health Equity that cannot be ignored. Our moral compass channels us to seek solutions to help eliminate disparities, but how can we do this if we do not know The Who, What, How, Why and Where on Health Equity.

In The Health Equity Pharmacist Blog, I will share bits and pieces of information on topics Health Equity related. I hope that you will join me on this journey as we learn together about Health Equity.
